The Hardcoast 50

The Hardcoast 50, scheduled for July 3, 2027, is an exhilarating coastal trail race that winds along the stunning Yorkshire coast. Starting at Fraisthorpe and ending atop the historic 199 steps of Whitby Abbey, this challenging event covers a diverse landscape from Bridlington to Robin Hood's Bay.
Runners will traverse scenic cliff paths on the King Charles Way and Cleveland Way, passing iconic landmarks such as Flamborough Head and Bempton Cliffs. The route features breathtaking views of rugged coastline, charming seaside towns like Filey and Scarborough, and the picturesque villages of Ravenscar and Robin Hood’s Bay.
With a strict 18-hour cutoff time, participants must carry all mandatory kit throughout the race to avoid penalties or disqualification. Key checkpoints offer water, food, and drop bag services at strategic points along the route, ensuring runners are well-supported as they navigate through this demanding terrain.
The event offers unique opportunities for support from designated crew members between Scarborough and Whitby, but strict rules prohibit spectators and supporters from accessing certain out-of-bounds areas to maintain a safe course environment. Participants will receive a tracker device included in their entry fee, providing real-time location updates for both safety and personal tracking purposes.
This race promises an unforgettable blend of coastal beauty and rigorous trail running, making it a must-attend event for endurance enthusiasts seeking a challenging yet rewarding experience along the Yorkshire coast.
