The Great Railway Run 2027

The Great Railway Run, organized by the Carrigaline & District Lions Club with support from Carrigaline AC, invites runners to explore the scenic route of an old railway line connecting Cork city and Carrigaline. This 25K road race offers a predominantly flat course that winds through picturesque towns such as Blackrock, Rochestown, Passage, Monkstown, Raffeen, and Shanbally before reaching its finish at the Lions Youth Centre on Church Road in Carrigaline.
Ideal for those looking to gauge their pace and fitness ahead of marathons like the Cork City Marathon, this event provides a smooth yet engaging run with plenty of historical charm. Participants can enjoy the unique setting along the railway path while taking in views of quaint villages en route. A bus service is available between start and finish locations at €5 per person; booking must be done during registration as cash payments will not be accepted on race day.
The Great Railway Run promises a memorable experience for runners seeking an enjoyable challenge with scenic beauty and local hospitality.
