The Dun Holm Challenge Day 5

Embrace the beauty of Durham during our Dun Holm 5 in 5 Days Challenge on Monday, May 31st, 2027. This unique race is part of our popular series and celebrates the historic city with a themed medal featuring its iconic landmarks.
The event offers flexibility for all levels—whether you're aiming to complete multiple laps or just enjoy one scenic run along the River Wear. The course winds through picturesque trails near Durham Amateur Rowing Club, providing stunning views of the Cathedral. Participants can choose their distance within a 7-hour window; from the minimum requirement of 3km up to ultra distances.
Trail Running Association and UK Athletics rules govern this event, ensuring safety and fair play for all runners. Members of affiliated clubs receive a £2 discount on entry fees. The route is clearly marked with signs, making navigation easy even for newcomers.
Finishers who complete at least 3 kilometers will be awarded a specially designed medal celebrating Durham's rich heritage. Additional pins are available to those running half-marathon distances or longer, marking significant milestones like the marathon and ultra runs.
Post-race refreshments include an array of snacks and drinks from our aid station, complemented by goody bags filled with treats for all participants. Vegan runners will find a dedicated selection in their bag as well.
For special occasions such as reaching 50th or 100th marathons, notify us ahead of time to receive personalized recognition on race day. Facilities at the venue include toilets and changing areas near the start/finish line where you can also drop off your belongings (though not staffed).
Parking is available in city center pay-and-display lots; avoid using spaces reserved for Durham Amateur Rowing Club.
Race instructions will be emailed a week before the event, including details on number pick-up procedures. On race day, headphones are permitted, and we ask all runners to respect other path users as this course runs through public footpaths.
