The Descent 1

The Descent 1 is an exhilarating point-to-point downhill road race that offers runners a unique and thrilling experience. Starting at Scammonden, participants will embark on a scenic journey down to West Vale over the course of 10 kilometers.
This route features wide roads with sweeping descents and open views, making it both visually stunning and runner-friendly. The net descent is approximately 300 meters, providing ample opportunity for runners to harness gravity as they speed towards the finish line in West Vale.
The race aims at simplicity and speed, offering a straightforward course without loops or gimmicks. Runners can expect long runnable downhill sections that are ideal for road shoes, making it perfect not only for first-time 10km participants but also for those looking to achieve quick times on well-marked roads.
On event day, registration will take place at West Vale from 6:00 PM to 7:50 PM. Participants will then board a bus departing promptly at 8:00 PM and be transported to the start line in Scammonden as soon as possible upon arrival. The race itself is designed for efficiency and enjoyment, with chip timing ensuring accurate results.
All finishers of The Descent 1 receive a medal included in their entry fee, though t-shirts must be pre-ordered separately if desired.
