The Supermarket Street Sweep (SMSW), affectionately known as "The Sweep," is an annual cycling race that has been benefiting the SF-Marin Food Bank since 2005. On November 7, 2026, hundreds of enthusiastic riders will pedal around San Francisco to collect food from local supermarkets and donate it to those in need. Rider check-in begins at Cupid’s Span (Bow & Arrow) located at Folsom and Embarcadero starting at 11:00 AM. Participants gather here before the race starts promptly at noon following a brief speech where they will receive their manifests, detailing which stores they'll visit and what items to purchase for donation. The course winds through various neighborhoods in San Francisco, leading cyclists to multiple supermarkets along predetermined routes. Each participant is tasked with buying specific food items listed on their manifest and delivering them directly to the SF-Marin Food Bank upon completion of the race at 4:00 PM. Race-day registration remains an option for riders interested in competing in the SPEED/POINTS, E-BIKE/POINTS, and CARGO categories. However, there is no same-day sign-up available for team entries. The event culminates with a lively after-party right at the SF-Marin Food Bank location where participants can relax and mingle. A raffle will take place from 5:30 to 6:00 PM, offering exciting prizes for attendees. Additionally, awards are presented during this time to recognize the top three individuals in each of the SPEED/POINTS, E-BIKE/POINTS, and CARGO categories as well as the highest-ranking teams and fundraisers.
