About the Event

AMCFF is proud to announce the first ever Running Con Ganas 5K, taking place on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Los Angeles Mission College. This inspiring community run will bring together students, families, and neighbors to celebrate health, determination, and educational opportunity.

“Ganas” — the Spanish word for “desire, drive, and motivation” — reflects the spirit of this event. All fitness levels are welcome to participate in the 5K, which will weave through the scenic LA Mission College campus and surrounding areas.

Running With Purpose

The AMCFF “Running Con Ganas” 5K is more than just a race — it’s a movement to:

Promote health, wellness, and community pride
Encourage students and families to engage in active lifestyles
Raise funds to support the 2027 AMCFF Scholars, providing financial assistance and resources to deserving students

Runners will receive a medal and timed bib!

About Sylmar

Learn more about the host city, Sylmar.

Sylmar is a suburban neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley and the northernmost neighborhood within the city of Los Angeles, California, United States. Historically known for its profusion of sylvan olive orchards, Sylmar can trace this back to the 18th century and the founding of the San Fernando Mission. In 1890, olive production was begun systematically. The Sylmar climate was also considered healthy, and so a sanitarium was established, the first in a series of hospitals in the neighborhood. There are fourteen public and eight private schools within Sylmar.
