Sunapee Scramble

The Sunapee Scramble, set for June 5th and 6th, 2027, is an exhilarating mountain racing event that promises to challenge even the most seasoned runners. Presented by Brooks Running with a substantial $30,000 prize purse, this race serves as both the USATF National Classic Mountain Championship and the sole selection race for the upcoming US Classic Up/Down Mountain Running Team.
The course itself is an impressive 9.2 miles long, featuring over 3,250 feet of elevation gain. It begins at the base of Mount Sunapee, where runners follow a service road up to the summit before descending quickly back down to the Base Lodge. The second lap adds a twist with technical terrain on the Newbury Trail leading all the way to the peak.
Registration for this event will take place early on Saturday, June 6th at The Shanty Pub from 3pm to 6pm, offering participants an opportunity to preview the course before race day. On Sunday morning, bib pick-ups start at 7:30am and racing commences with men's starts at 9am followed by women’s races beginning at 9:15am.
After crossing the finish line, runners can look forward to a lively awards ceremony and after-party at the Sunapee Base Lodge. This event not only tests physical limits but also celebrates the camaraderie among competitors in one of New Hampshire's most scenic settings.
