Steaming Down The Valley

Steaming Down the Valley is an enchanting race that combines scenic trail running with thrilling paddlesports, set along the picturesque Severn Valley near Alveley, Bridgnorth. The event takes place on June 5, 2027, starting at 11:00 AM from the historic Country Park Halt station within the Severn Valley Country Park.
Runners can choose between a challenging 10k or a more leisurely 5k course. Both routes wind through lush woodlands and along the riverbank of the majestic River Severn, offering stunning views and natural undulations that cater to all levels of runners. The trail is primarily off-road with dirt paths, woodland trails, gravel sections, and grassy areas. Trail shoes are recommended due to potential muddy or soft conditions.
For those who prefer water over land, the paddlesports race offers a unique challenge. Participants start from Miner's bridge in the Severn Valley Country Park and paddle downriver on their own canoes, kayaks, or stand-up paddleboards. The goal is to reach Arley village ahead of the steam train that runs alongside the river.
Race day promises an immersive experience with goody bags for all participants, a finish-line medal, and complimentary race photography. Whether you're tackling the trails or gliding through the water, Steaming Down the Valley offers an unforgettable adventure in one of Britain's most scenic settings.
