SROC Autumn Series 2 Lancaster Uni

Experience the thrill of orienteering on October 24, 2026, at this intricate university campus setting. Ideal for both newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts, the event offers three distinct courses to cater to various skill levels.
The Easy (Yellow) course spans a manageable 2 kilometers, perfect for juniors with some map-reading experience or family groups looking to explore together. The Hard (Green) route extends over 4.3 kilometers, designed exclusively for experienced orienteers seeking a challenging adventure through urban and woodland terrain.
For those new to the sport, pre-registration is highly recommended but limited entries will be accepted on-site if maps are available. Entry fees range from £8 to £4 based on membership status and age category. Non-members can enjoy discounted rates when participating in pairs or groups.
The event takes place within a complex university campus surrounded by playing fields and woodlands, offering diverse terrain that is mostly runnable with trail shoes or trainers. Participants should be aware of ongoing construction work indicated by purple hatching on the map; however, courses are carefully planned to avoid these areas as much as possible.
Start times for all courses range from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, and the event concludes at 3:00 PM. The start and finish lines will be clearly marked near Barker's Cafe, which also houses public restrooms. Parking is available in Alexandra Park with a cost of £1 for three hours.
Whether you're tackling the intricate Score course or navigating through the campus on one of the other routes, this event promises an engaging day full of exploration and discovery amidst stunning scenery. Remember to check www.sroc.org for results after the race concludes.
