About the Event

Nestled in the heart of Ibaraki Prefecture, the Stoneo Half Marathon offers runners an immersive experience through the charming town of Ishioka. Starting at Ishioka Station, participants can walk from the station to the race start, making it incredibly convenient for visitors.
The course winds through the historic and nostalgic streets surrounding the station, where vintage signage and retro architecture transport runners back in time. As they progress along the route, competitors face a challenging climb up Onigohara Pass, known locally as "the Demon's Slope," before descending into picturesque landscapes that showcase the beauty of Japan’s countryside.
The highlight of this half marathon is its finish line at the foot of Tsukuba Mountain—one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. This iconic peak offers stunning views and a sense of accomplishment for those who reach it after tackling various terrains including flat stretches, gentle hills, and steep ascents.
In addition to the half marathon, runners can choose from shorter distances: a scenic 3km run through Ishioka's vibrant shopping district or a family-friendly 2.2km route designed specifically for parents and children to enjoy together.
Entry fees are set at ¥6000 for the half marathon, ¥3000 (¥1000 for middle school students) for the 3km race, and ¥1000 for the shorter family event priced at ¥2000. These races provide a unique opportunity to explore Ishioka’s rich cultural heritage while testing one's endurance on diverse terrain.
This event is not just about crossing the finish line; it’s an adventure through history and nature, perfect for runners seeking more than just a race day experience in Japan.
