Skipton Sweetie Skedaddle – Leeds & Liverpool Canal Summer Running Event Join runners from across Yorkshire for the Skipton Sweetie Skedaddle on September 18, 2027. This trail running event along the picturesque Leeds and Liverpool Canal offers a variety of distances to suit all levels: 10K, 10 Mile, Half Marathon, 20 Mile (two laps), Marathon (four laps), and an Ultra Marathon option (six laps plus an additional 10km). All races are licensed by UK Athletics under the Trail Running Association rules. The event takes place in Aireville Park, Skipton, North Yorkshire. With its flat terrain and scenic canal towpath, this course is perfect for both beginners looking to dip their toes into racing and seasoned runners aiming for a personal best. Each distance offers continuous waterside views, making the run enjoyable regardless of your pace. Start times vary depending on the race distance: 10K begins at 10:00 am, while longer distances like the Half Marathon start earlier at 9:00 am and the full marathon starts even earlier at 8:30 am. The ultra-marathon runners begin their journey alongside the 20-mile participants. The route is well-supported with friendly marshals every step of the way and feed stations approximately every three miles, ensuring you stay fueled throughout your run. Participants are encouraged to wear road shoes for optimal performance on this flat course. Upon crossing the finish line, runners will be greeted by a bounty of sweets, chocolate, and cake – a sweet reward after their efforts. Each participant also receives a bespoke finisher’s medal commemorating the event. Traveling from afar? The start point is just minutes away from Skipton Train Station, making it easy to reach without needing a car. Local parking options are available in nearby streets and car parks near Aireville Park; however, please avoid using the Leisure Centre Pay & Display for convenience. To ensure everyone's safety on course, participants must complete their race within 6.5 hours of starting time. Additionally, all runners should bring reusable cups or bottles to minimize waste during this cup-less event. Stay connected with updates and join fellow Skipton Sweetie Skedaddle enthusiasts in the "Grim Up North Chat" Facebook group for more information leading up to September 18th. Secure your spot today at one of Yorkshire’s most unique running events, combining scenic beauty with a sweet finish line celebration.
