Skaftö 24hr Backyard Ultra 2026

Welcome to the third edition of the Skaftö 24hr Backyard Ultra, an unforgettable running experience set against the stunning backdrop of Sweden's picturesque island, Skaftö. This unique event invites runners from around the world to challenge themselves over a course that winds through lush forests, rugged cliffs, and along the sparkling harbour.
Each lap covers a distance of approximately 6.7 kilometers with nearly 112 meters in elevation gain, offering both scenic beauty and varied terrain for participants to enjoy. The majority of the route—about 80 percent—is on unpaved trails, making it essential that runners bring their trail shoes to fully appreciate this challenging yet rewarding course.
Participants can opt to stay at Skaftögården, a charming summer camp nestled in the heart of Skaftö’s natural beauty. Accommodation options range from booking an entire room for your family or friends to sharing dormitory-style rooms with fellow runners. For those who prefer camping, there is also the option to pitch tents on site at a small additional cost upon arrival.
To minimize environmental impact and promote community spirit, we strongly encourage carpooling or taking advantage of local bus services to reach Skaftö. A Facebook event page has been created for participants to coordinate rides and connect with other runners before race day.
