Siuslaw Dunes

Embark on an extraordinary adventure along Oregon's central coast where nature meets challenge at the Siuslaw Dunes Trail Runs. This unique race takes place within the expansive and ever-changing landscape of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, just south of Florence, nestled in historic Honeyman State Park.
The event offers three distinct distances to cater to various levels of runners: a grueling 50K (31 miles), an exhilarating 20-mile run, and a captivating 12K. Each course is designed to showcase the diverse terrain that includes vast sand dunes with "tree islands," lush old-growth rainforests, serene stream crossings, and remote ocean beaches.
The 50K route presents an exceptional test of endurance over mostly point-to-point trails, weaving through a dynamic landscape with approximately 2,100 feet of ascent and 2,070 feet of descent. Runners will enjoy breathtaking views along open dunes, forested single-track trails, and remote ocean beaches.
For those seeking a more moderate challenge, the 20-mile course offers spectacular scenery on a point-to-point route that traverses through sand dunes, coastal forests, and pristine beachfronts with nearly equal elevation gains and losses of about 1,400 feet each.
The 12K adventure begins with a shuttle ride to the forested campground start line where runners will embark on an epic journey through one of America's most unique Pacific Coast regions. This challenging yet rewarding course features magnificent views along open dunes and lush trails.
Proceeds from this event benefit Siuslaw High School’s Cross Country and Track & Field programs in Florence, Oregon. The race directors are proud alumni who learned to run here and now aim to give back to their community by supporting local youth athletics.
