SHERWOOD PINES FESTIVE TRAIL RUNS 2026

Dive into the heart of Nottinghamshire’s enchanting Sherwood Forest this December with Wild Deer Events. Nestled just 20 minutes from both the A1 and M1 motorways, Sherwood Pines offers an ideal setting for runners seeking a festive adventure.
Sherwood Pines is more than just a forest; it's a living history book, steeped in tales of Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men. Spanning over 3,300 acres, the park boasts towering pine trees that create a serene backdrop for your run or walk. With its diverse range of activities including bike hire, play areas, and mountain biking trails, Sherwood Pines is perfect for all ages.
The event lineup includes something for every runner:
- Family 1 Mile Run: A gentle introduction to running for children aged 3–14 years old, with a free entry option for accompanying adults. This scenic loop through the forest allows little ones and their families to enjoy the festive spirit together.

- 5km Trail Run: Ideal for runners aged 11+, this trail is also canicross friendly, welcoming well-controlled dogs alongside human participants.
- 10km Trail Run: A more challenging route suitable for those aged 15+ who are ready for a longer adventure through the woodland trails. This event too accommodates canine companions in tow.

- Festive Duathlons: Sprint and standard duathlon options provide an additional challenge, combining running with other elements of fitness.
Start times vary slightly but generally begin around 9:10am for the family run, followed by canicross starts at 9:30am. The 5km and 10km races kick off promptly after that.
Race day will be powered by Timing Up North’s live chip-timing system, ensuring accurate results available instantly upon crossing the finish line. All participants in the longer trail runs receive a commemorative medal, wild deer merchandise, mince pies, chocolates, and drinks to celebrate their achievement. The family mile runners also get a special treat: a selection box alongside their medal.

Subsidized parking is available on-site with payment through Forestry England’s pay machines after the race.
