Semi-Marathon de Rambouillet

Embark on the scenic and challenging journey of the Rambouillet Half Marathon, organized by Rambouillet Olympique. This 38th edition is not just another race; it's the departmental championship for Yvelines and a stepping stone to qualify for the French Championships. Set against the backdrop of Île-de-France in early spring, March offers ideal conditions—neither too cold nor too hot—for runners looking to push their limits.
The course begins in the heart of Rambouillet, where you'll be greeted by historic architecture and the majestic castle as your starting line view. From there, it's a seamless transition into the serene state-owned forest on smooth roads and bike paths. The first half offers a mix of city streets with cheering crowds and tranquil woodland trails that are perfect for setting personal records.
As you progress through 21 kilometers, the route is meticulously marked, ensuring runners can focus entirely on their performance without distractions. Highlights include running alongside Étang d'Or's picturesque waters and enjoying moments of solitude or camaraderie as fellow athletes pass by. The forest section provides a rejuvenating break from urban hustle, with budding spring foliage adding to the serene atmosphere.
With up to 3,000 participants, the race maintains an engaging yet manageable pace, encouraging runners without overwhelming them. Inclusion is at the forefront here too; visually impaired runners have dedicated guides who join free of charge, ensuring everyone has a fair chance to compete.
Post-race activities include exploring Rambouillet's rich history and natural beauty, from its royal castle grounds to charming local eateries serving regional delicacies like the irresistible Rambolitain pastry. The town is conveniently located just 50 minutes by train from Paris, making it an ideal weekend getaway for athletes.
