Semi de l'Alpe d'Huez - Run to the sky

Run to the Sky, an exhilarating half marathon through the heart of Alpe d’Huez, invites runners to challenge themselves on one of cycling’s most revered climbs. The race begins at Bourg-d'Oisans, nestled in a lush valley at 720 meters above sea level, before ascending into the rugged beauty of the Oisans mountains. On June 13, 2027, participants will experience the full heat and breathtaking scenery that make this route legendary.
The course is a relentless ascent through 21 hairpin bends, each marked with plaques honoring past cycling champions. The gradient averages around 8%, reaching up to 14% in some lower sections. Runners will encounter Bend 7's Dutch Corner, painted orange as a nod to its rich history and the international allure of this challenging climb.
The race is held on roads closed exclusively for runners, ensuring an uninterrupted journey from start to finish without any vehicles or cyclists interrupting your rhythm. A festive Sky Village awaits at the summit, offering weary legs a chance to celebrate their achievement before descending back into Bourg-d'Oisans and its mineral-rich surroundings.
Post-race, explore the town’s museum dedicated to minerals and Alpine wildlife, or venture further up for a peaceful hike around Lac Besson and Pic du Lac Blanc. For those still hungry for more elevation gain, nearby Col de Sarenne offers an additional challenge. Indulge in local cuisine like gratin dauphinois and Vercors-Sassenage blue cheese to refuel after the intense climb.
Runners will not only conquer Alpe d’Huez but also leave with a unique sense of achievement and awe for this iconic mountain landscape.
