Runrise Décembre

On December 19, 2026, runners will gather at dawn for RunRise, a unique and enchanting race held in Sassenage, just outside the gates of Grenoble. The town is nestled between the cliffs of Vercors Massif and the winding Furon river, which eventually joins the Isère.
As winter's chill sets in, temperatures hover around 3°C, and daylight is scarce with only eight hours to enjoy before nightfall. Participants start their journey at sunrise, a time when the valley is still asleep under a blanket of early morning mist. The race itself covers a flat and fast 5 km course along the plain, offering runners an intimate look at Sassenage's picturesque landscape.
Each participant receives a connected audio headset tuned to live DJ music broadcast from a turntable, setting the rhythm for this dawn expedition. This innovative format allows everyone—whether running or walking—to enjoy the experience on their own terms while contributing to a surreal scene of silent dancers moving through the streets at sunrise.
After crossing the finish line, runners are greeted with a hearty breakfast spread featuring croissants, pains au chocolat, fresh fruit, and hot drinks. The event emphasizes eco-friendly practices, ensuring that participants respect the environment as they enjoy their morning adventure.
Sassenage is more than just the backdrop for this race; it's steeped in local history and culinary delights. Visitors can explore nearby attractions like Sassenage Castle, a nature trail along the Furon river, or take a ride on the Bastille cable car to admire panoramic views of the region. The town also boasts its own PDO cheese, Bleu du Vercors-Sassenage, as well as local specialties such as ravioles and Grenoble walnuts.
RunRise is not just about running; it's an invitation to embrace early mornings in a charming setting with breathtaking scenery and warm community spirit.
