About the Event

Welcome to the 7th Vogrie Country Park Trail Running Festival, featuring the Jump Ship Brewing Half Marathon and various distance options for runners of all levels. Organized by Scurry Events, this festive day offers participants an engaging mix of terrain through picturesque landscapes.
The event kicks off with registration at the Tree Top Cafe from 8:15 AM to 9:30 AM on Sunday, January 17th, followed by race starts for the Half Marathon (2 loops), 10km and 5km routes. The half marathon runners will begin their journey at 9:30 AM with two laps of a challenging mixed terrain course that winds through Vogrie Country Park's woodlands and paths along the Tyne Valley.
The route, meticulously planned to showcase the park’s natural beauty, offers a blend of grassy trails and muddy stretches. It features gentle climbs and descents around Pathhead before returning into the heart of the park for both finish lines located in front of Vogrie House. The 10km and 5km races follow similar paths but on shorter durations.
Post-race amenities include refreshments like Active Root drinks, bananas, and energy bars at the Tree Top Cafe near the registration area, where participants can also grab hot and cold beverages to refuel after their run.
Safety is a top priority with clearly marked routes and marshals stationed throughout. Participants are reminded that uneven surfaces may be encountered on this trail run, so proper footwear and preparation for varying terrain types are essential. The event does not permit the use of headphones or dogs due to safety concerns but allows strollers in designated areas only.
Competitors will receive race mementos and medals upon completion, with awards presented to the top three male and female finishers across various age categories for both Half Marathon and 10km races. Additionally, all participants under 16 years old complete a fun-filled family trail run of approximately 1.6 kilometers.
