Running 9 to 5 - Durham

Join us for the Running 9 to 5 event, a heartfelt tribute to Country and Pop icon Dolly Parton, who passed away in August 2026. This inclusive race celebrates her vibrant spirit with a scenic route along the River Wear in Durham.
Scheduled for March 21, 2027, the event welcomes runners of all abilities and even includes walkers. The course offers stunning views of the Cathedral and is fully signed to guide participants through its trail run terrain without requiring navigational skills.
Participants can choose their distance within a 7-hour time window, starting at a minimum of 3 kilometers and extending up to ultra distances beyond 50 kilometers. Key turn points are set for 3km and 5km to accommodate younger runners as per UK Athletics guidelines.
Entry fees vary based on membership status; members enjoy discounted rates by £10 compared to full price entries, plus they receive a mini-me medal pin at every event attended. Additionally, those from affiliated UK Athletics clubs get an extra discount of £2 off their entry fee.
Race day amenities include aid tables and drink stations with snacks like crisps, cheese, fruit, cookies, and vegan options available for refueling. All finishers will be awarded a themed medal upon completion of at least 3 kilometers, while those who run half-marathon distances or further receive special distance pins to commemorate their achievements.
