The Remembrance Day Run, taking place on November 14, 2027, offers participants the unique opportunity to honor fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom. This heartfelt tribute is held in Surrey, south-east England, where runners of all abilities can come together to pay respects. At precisely 11:00am during the event, there will be a two-minute silence observed by everyone present as an act of solemn remembrance. The official times recorded for each participant are adjusted accordingly, removing these minutes from their total race time. For those looking to add a personal touch to their commemoration, a super cute poppy pin can be purchased along with the entry fee for just £3.00 extra. This small token complements the beautifully designed medal awarded upon completion of at least 3 kilometers. The event is fully inclusive and welcomes both runners and walkers alike. Members enjoy exclusive benefits including lower entry fees (£10 less than full price) and a mini-me medal pin at each event attended, plus guaranteed entry to all races. UK Athletics affiliated club members receive an additional £2 discount on their registration fee. This 7-hour time challenge allows participants the flexibility to set their own distance goals within certain age restrictions enforced by UK Athletics guidelines. The course consists of laps around a scenic stretch along the River Thames, with options for shorter distances like 3km and 5km turn points available to accommodate younger runners adhering to specific regulations. The terrain is divided roughly half-and-half between well-maintained paths/tarmac surfaces and grassy trails that can become muddy depending on weather conditions. For optimal grip during wetter periods, trail shoes are recommended alongside the usual road running footwear options year-round. Upon crossing the finish line after completing a minimum of 3 kilometers, runners receive an impressive commemorative medal symbolizing their contribution to this meaningful occasion. Additional pins recognizing achievements in half-marathon and beyond (marathons up to ultra distances) can be collected as well. Every participant is rewarded with a goody bag filled with treats post-race, including vegan-friendly options for dietary preferences. The aid station located at the start/finish line provides an array of snacks ranging from sweet to savory items throughout the event period. Should this run hold significance on special occasions such as milestone race numbers or anniversaries, runners are encouraged to inform organizers ahead of time and will receive personalized running bibs with their names and dates inscribed upon them. The Last Hop serves as a convenient venue offering restroom facilities accessible from early morning until late afternoon. Participants may utilize these spaces for changing if needed; however, no secure storage is provided so valuable items should not be left unattended. Free parking can be found at Bridge Street Car Park in Staines (TW18 4TP) near the event site. Detailed race day instructions will be communicated via email a week before the run with information on number pick-up procedures and other essential details. Join us for this moving tribute to those who have made immense sacrifices, combining physical challenge with heartfelt reflection amidst picturesque surroundings along England's iconic River Thames.
