About the Event

Hammond’s Best Holiday Tradition!
For 14 years, the Reindeer Run—presented by Davie Shoring—has brought Christmas cheer to Downtown Hammond. What began as a small neighborhood race has grown into a beloved December tradition, filling our streets with families, athletes, and holiday spirit. Thanks to the generous support of Davie Shoring, this year’s event promises to be our best yet. The race often sells out, so don’t wait to register!

Whether you’re racing the chip-timed 5K or enjoying the 1-Mile Fun Run, there’s a spot for everyone on the course. It’s the perfect way to kick off the holiday season with friends and family.

The Route
Starting and finishing at Cate Square Park, the course winds through Hammond’s historic district and heads out and back through Southeastern Louisiana University, a festive mix of small-town charm and campus pride.

Medals and Memories
Every finisher earns a custom medal, and we only register as many runners as we can award. Once our forecasted supply is filled, registration will close. Secure your spot now to guarantee your place in the tradition and the medal waiting at the finish line.

Running With Purpose
Your registration supports Restoration House Pregnancy Resource Center, helping women and families in our community find hope and a brighter future. Each entry raises critical funds for this mission, making every mile matter even more. Running the Reindeer Run means giving back right here at home.

Whether you like to plan ahead or roll in on race morning, we’ve got you covered:

Packet pickup kicks off Thursday, December 3 at Restoration House (101 S. Spruce St, Hammond) from 12 to 6.
Friday, December 4 pickup TBD.
Race day pickup begins at 7 on Saturday, December 5 at Cate Square Park (200 W. Charles St, Hammond).

Hammond is a Chicagoland city of some 76,000 people (2019) in Lake County, Indiana—bordering Chicago's Far Southeast Side. Most visitors will find themselves passing through or on business, but Chicagoans would do well to include it in a close-in Lake County day trip, if for no other reason than to get some good food, perhaps stock up on fireworks, and realize that Chicagoland doesn't stop at the state line!
