Pier Gates Remembrance Race

The Djouce Remembrance Race, held annually on December 27th at Pier Gates near Lough Tay Car Park in Wicklow, is a poignant and festive tribute to the memory of IMRA members who have passed away. This unique race blends several cherished traditions—such as the Bray Head Christmas Flash and the Djouce Djoggers' Djogue—to celebrate the lives of hillrunners no longer with us.
The route has been adjusted from previous years due to unsuitable conditions in Djouce Woods, now starting at Pier Gates instead. While details are still being finalized before race day, participants can expect a scenic course that offers easy terrain and minimal ascent, making it accessible for runners of all skill levels. A short course option is available for those who prefer a shorter distance.
Fancy dress is strongly encouraged to add an element of fun and camaraderie among the runners. The organizers invite friends and family members to share details about deceased loved ones who were active in IMRA races, ensuring their memory lives on through this special event.
Registration opens from 9:15 AM to 9:45 AM at Pier Gates/Lough Tay Car Park, with pre-registration available for those holding an IMRA race number via the MEMBERSHIP / SHOP / ONLINE ENTRIES section of imra.ie.
Join fellow runners and honor the legacy of Ireland’s legendary hillrunners in this heartwarming celebration.
