PHOENIX - South Wales - D-Day Military Series Run

On June 12, 2027, Phoenix Running South Wales invites you to the second installment of their military-themed series honoring significant WWII events. This year's D-Day Military Series Run takes place at Parc Taf Bargoed, a stunning Green Flag park with breathtaking views shaped by both industrial history and recent redevelopment.
Participants can choose from various distances on an out-and-back course spanning 5.3 kilometers (3.28 miles). The route offers runners the flexibility to complete as many or as few laps as they desire within a generous seven-hour window, allowing for personal pacing and endurance testing in a scenic setting. Whether you're looking for a quick 5k run or aiming to push yourself further with half marathon distances and beyond, this event caters to all levels of runners.
The park's diverse terrain includes mostly tarmac paths interspersed with approximately 0.5 miles of riverside trails, providing varied challenges throughout the course. With an elevation gain of just 37 meters, it remains accessible while still offering a rewarding experience for those seeking adventure on foot or by wheelchair.
All finishers will receive a unique and impressive 160mm tall medal commemorating their achievement. Completing all four events in this series allows participants to combine their medals into one spectacular mural measuring 320mm wide x 160mm tall, featuring an iconic flag background as recognition for their dedication.
Registration opens at 7:30 am with staggered starts beginning from 8:30 am. The event welcomes both runners and walkers who can enjoy the epic aid stations along the route while taking part in same-day results and digital finishers certificates provided by Phoenix Running South Wales. For those looking to keep costs down, a no-medal entry option is available starting at £20.
To ensure an enjoyable experience for all participants, organizers accommodate special start time requests based on individual needs. With limited spots available, early registration is recommended to secure your place in this historical and scenic event. The What3Words reference for the location is ///magical.reference.sandwich.
Join us at Parc Taf Bargoed for a day of remembrance, endurance, and camaraderie as we honor those who fought during D-Day through running or walking alongside fellow participants in this unique military-themed event.
