PHOENIX - NOT the London Marathon Run 2027

In April 2027, Phoenix Running invites runners to take part in an alternative marathon experience just outside London at Walton on Thames. This unique race offers participants the chance to earn a striking medal that stands out with its impressive size and vibrant new colors.
The event takes place on Sunday, April 25th, featuring an accurately measured UKA-certified route (Certificate No: 18/339), which winds along the picturesque River Thames. Runners can choose from several options including a full marathon by completing eight laps of 3.28 miles each or half-marathon with four laps. For those seeking flexibility, this event also functions as a timed challenge where participants have up to seven hours to run as many or few laps as desired.
The race provides an ideal setting for runners who missed out on the London Marathon but still wish to participate in a well-organized event complete with aid stations and supportive volunteers. Virtual marathon entrants are welcome too, able to wear their official bib numbers during this scenic route.
Participants will enjoy running along the flat riverside towpath which offers minimal elevation changes for a smooth and speedy race experience. The medal awarded is particularly noteworthy at 150mm in diameter – larger than most standard medals.
Spaces will be limited with early start times available from 7:00 am to accommodate various schedules, ensuring an intimate atmosphere where runners can enjoy the camaraderie of fellow competitors while taking in the serene beauty of the Thames.
