About the Event

Nestled amidst the serene Shivalik belt of the Himalayas, Patnitop Marathon offers runners an unparalleled experience on one of India's most scenic race courses. Situated at 2024 meters above sea level and surrounded by lush Deodar (Cedar) and Kail (Blue Pine) forests, this hill resort provides a breathtaking backdrop for athletes competing in various distances.
Scheduled for Sunday, May 9th, 2027, the Patnitop Marathon features races ranging from a challenging 100km Ultra Marathon to more accessible options like the Half Marathon at 21.1 kilometers and shorter runs of 10km and 5km. The event caters to runners of all ages and skill levels, with separate categories for participants aged ten or older.
The race day starts early in the morning as competitors gather on a plateau overlooking the serene Chenab basin and the majestic Pir Panjal range beyond. For those tackling longer distances such as the 100km Ultra Marathon, which begins at midnight, the event offers stunning night-time views under starlit skies. Throughout the course, runners will enjoy panoramic vistas and fresh mountain air.
Participants in the ultra marathon events are required to carry essential gear for their safety, including a hydration vest or backpack with a minimum capacity of 1.5 liters, fully charged mobile phones equipped with navigation apps, headlamps/torches along with spare batteries, whistles for emergency signaling, waterproof/windproof jackets and an emergency survival blanket.
The race offers comprehensive support services to ensure the well-being of all runners. Aid stations are strategically placed throughout the course, providing hydration and nutrition options such as sports drinks and energy gels. Additionally, a medical team equipped with ambulances is on standby for immediate assistance in case of emergencies.
Upon completion, every participant receives an official race day T-shirt, finisher's medal, refreshments post-race, digital certificates commemorating their achievement, and complimentary photos from the event. The top three winners in each age category will also be awarded with trophies to celebrate their remarkable accomplishments.
To ensure fair play and a safe environment for all competitors, strict adherence to race rules is enforced. This includes mandatory gear inspections for ultra marathon participants and disqualification for any form of cheating or rule violations.
