Outrun The Night 2027

Outrun the Night 2027 invites trail runners to explore the enchanting Dalkeith Country Park near Edinburgh for an unforgettable night run. The challenge spans from 7pm on October 30, 2027, until 7am on October 31, 2027, offering participants a unique opportunity to conquer up to thirteen hours of darkness across multiple 5km loops.
Dalkeith Country Park’s diverse terrain features winding woodland trails and rugged roads. Runners will encounter complete darkness, uneven ground, exposed roots, and unpredictable conditions underfoot as they navigate the course. The park’s lush forests and serene landscapes provide a mystical backdrop for this endurance event.
Participants can opt to run solo or form teams of two or four members who will compete in relay fashion. Each loop returns to base camp on the Palace Lawn at Dalkeith Palace, where runners and their support crews can rest, refuel, and store equipment. The setting is enhanced with a lively atmosphere courtesy of music provided by Momentm Events.
Registration opens at 4:30 pm for set-up and closes at 6:30 pm before the mandatory race briefing begins. All participants must attend this briefing to receive crucial safety information and instructions. Runners are required to carry working headtorches, a backup light source, fully charged mobile phones, suitable trail footwear, and appropriate clothing.
The event offers flexibility for runners of all abilities—whether tackling your first night run or aiming for an ultra-distance challenge. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers as well as the best team relay performance. Spectators are welcome to cheer on participants throughout the night.
