Experience what is widely regarded as the most breathtaking running event on the planet at the 2026 New Zealand Sotheby's International Realty Queenstown Marathon. Returning on Saturday, November 14, 2026, this annual running festival is set against the awe-inspiring backdrop of the Queenstown Lakes District. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or a casual walker, the event offers four distinct distances: the signature 42km Marathon, the La Roche Posay Half Marathon (21km), the United Airlines 10km, and a 2.2km Kids Run, ensuring a world-class experience for every level of fitness.
The course is a "flat out beautiful" journey through New Zealand’s premier holiday destination, consisting of 70% hard-packed trails and 30% paved roads. This unique terrain allows runners to soak up pristine lakes, towering mountains, and stunning countryside while maintaining a fast, mainly flat gradient. With the latest technology integrated into the event app, including live athlete tracking, spectators and participants alike can stay connected as course records continue to tumble in this high-energy, high-style competition presented by ASICS.
Beyond the finish line, the Queenstown Marathon is celebrated for its vibrant social atmosphere and premium participant perks. Every finisher is rewarded with a custom medal, while the "Medal Perks" program offers exclusive local rewards throughout the region. From the Marathon Sports Expo to the post-race celebrations in downtown Queenstown, this event is more than a race—it is a total immersion into the fun and flavors of the South Island. Secure your entry for November 2026 and find out why thousands of runners from around the globe choose to runaway to Queenstown.
