Glenorchy Grind 2026

About the Event

Embark on an unforgettable gravel adventure through New Zealand's stunning Southern Alps with the Glenorchy Grind. Set for October 17, 2026, this event offers three challenging courses: The Grind (160km), Twin Rivers Ride (86km), and Paradise Dash (57km). Each route promises breathtaking scenery along picturesque gravel roads.
The Grind is a full-day epic that weaves through Glenorchy's spectacular terrain in a spider-style loop. Despite the lack of major climbs, this course will test your endurance with relentless undulations and unexpected challenges throughout. The final stretch is notorious for its steep ascents, making it crucial to conserve energy early on.
For those seeking a rewarding yet manageable day out, the Twin Rivers Ride offers an 86km journey that ventures into Paradise Road, known as Isengard in Lord of the Rings lore. This route follows the Dart River and takes you through beech forest and farmland before ascending Rees Valley for stunning views and challenging climbs.
The Paradise Dash is a family-friendly option at 57km, perfect for those who want to experience Glenorchy's scenic gravel roads without committing to longer distances. Ride along Greenstone Road through picturesque landscapes dotted with Southern Alps peaks.
Volunteers stationed at Kinloch aid station will keep you fueled and motivated throughout your journey. Join the Glenorchy Grind for an adventure that combines natural beauty, challenging terrain, and a spirit of community among like-minded cyclists.
