As the sun sets over Jugon, an enchanting race course stretches before you, winding through the heart of this picturesque French village and beyond into its private lands. The event kicks off with children’s races on three distinct courses—1 km, 1.5 km, and a scenic 3-km loop around the local pond, each offering unique challenges for young runners. For those seeking more adventure, the evening brings two longer distances: a 5.2 km course beginning after the kids’ events at 6:45 PM, followed by the grand finale of the night—a thrilling 10.4 km race that loops back to complete its journey around Jugon's vibrant Christmas decorations. The course itself is a tapestry of terrains and challenges. It starts with three kilometers of flat paths, including a tour of the village’s festive center where you can enjoy the holiday spirit before tackling the legendary Vallée Verte climb—500 meters steeply uphill on bituminous roads, reaching inclines that approach 20%. For those looking for more excitement, an approximately two-kilometer trail section awaits at the end. Safety and preparation are key. The race organizers strongly recommend carrying a headlamp or front light due to potential evening darkness. And why not add some festive flair with LED lights, lanterns, bells, or even Santa hats? Weather forecasts suggest clear skies throughout the day, though a slight drop in temperature is expected by late afternoon. Parking can be challenging on race day; the closest secure parking will be at the Roches Blanches area and within the village center. Plan extra time for these logistics to ensure you arrive well before your event starts. For participants under 18 years old, parental consent forms must be completed beforehand as part of a health screening process. These are available online and require submission along with proof of current athletic eligibility or completion of the FFA’s Prevention Health course within three months prior to the race date. This race promises not only physical challenges but also an immersive experience in one of France's most charming winter landscapes, making it a perfect blend of adventure and holiday spirit.
