Muratie Trails Marathon RUN 2026

Experience the beauty and challenge of South Africa’s Knorhoek Valley at the Muratie Trails Marathon on December 12, 2026. This exclusive trail adventure takes place along the slopes of Simonsberg within the stunning grounds of Muratie Wine Estate near Stellenbosch. Participants will enjoy a weekend filled with singletrack runs and mountain biking across private estate trails.
On race day, runners can choose from three distances: a challenging 21 km route for experienced athletes featuring mostly singletrack terrain with 750 meters of climbing; an intermediate option at 11 km; or a fun run covering 6 km. All routes wind through the rolling hills and lush farmland surrounding Muratie Wine Estate, offering breathtaking views throughout.
Registration opens on Saturday from 7:00 AM, followed by start times for each distance starting at 7:30 AM. Runners will carry their own hydration during the race but can expect well-stocked water points along the way. Finishers of the full marathon receive a medal and a cold Jack Black Beer to celebrate.
In addition to the run itself, participants have access to Muratie’s Farm Kitchen for lunch bookings and warm showers next to the Dirtopia Trail Centre. The event also features lucky draw prizes including vouchers from Sportmans Warehouse, SOX footwear, and exclusive Muratie wines. For those looking to enhance their experience further, Ultimate Performance Therapy will offer on-site massages that can be booked in advance.
Join fellow trail runners for an unforgettable day of running amidst the scenic beauty of South Africa’s oldest wine farm.
