Muratie Trails Marathon 2026

Experience the breathtaking beauty of South Africa's Knorhoek Valley at the Muratie Trails Marathon, set to take place on December 13, 2026. This exclusive trail adventure offers runners and mountain bikers an unforgettable journey through the rolling slopes of Simonsberg near Stellenbosch. Participants will explore singletrack trails that wind across private farmland, providing a unique blend of scenic views and challenging terrain.
The event kicks off with a full day of trail running on December 12th, setting the stage for the main attraction: an exhilarating mountain biking marathon on Sunday. Cyclists can choose from two start times—one at 07:30 AM for traditional bikes and another at 09:30 AM for e-bikes—each offering a route that features nearly 42 kilometers of singletrack trails with over 1,600 meters of elevation gain.
The course is designed to cater to intermediate to advanced riders, featuring three refreshment stations along the way. Upon crossing the finish line, participants will be greeted by live music and the chance to enjoy a cold Jack Black Beer (exclusive for mountain bikers). Additionally, all MTB racers receive an annual membership at Dirtopia Trails @ Muratie Wine Estate, allowing them free access to ride on South Africa’s oldest wine farm.
This event not only celebrates the end of 2026 but also marks the beginning of summer holidays with a weekend filled with trail running and mountain biking adventures.
