More Miles Last One Standing Challenge

The 8th annual More Miles Last One Standing Challenge invites you to push your limits and test endurance like never before. Register by April 20, 2027, to secure your preferred t-shirt size; after this date, sizes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
This unique backyard race features an official course of 4.167 miles (referred to as "the yard"), which participants must complete within each hour starting at the designated time. Those who finish their mile in under an hour proceed into the next round, continuing this pattern for as long as they can manage. The event concludes when only one participant remains capable of completing a yard on schedule.
The More Miles Last One Standing Challenge is not just about individual achievement; it's also a Bronze Level qualifier for the Backyard Ultra world championship. Additionally, there’s a 1-mile Mortal's Edition designed to introduce newcomers and younger participants to this thrilling format in a more accessible way. This shorter version runs continuously for 24 hours before transitioning into tie-breaker rounds where each hour adds an extra mile until only one participant is left standing.
The race course is predominantly trail, offering varied terrain that remains consistent throughout both day and night sessions. Participants can choose to compete for just one hour or continue pushing their limits in pursuit of the Last One Standing title.
This year’s event introduces a new incentive with prize money awarded not just to the champion but also to The Assist – recognizing the critical support roles behind every successful challenger. Both top finishers will receive cash equaling the total miles they run, encouraging participants to aim for impressive distances and rewarding those who break through their personal ceilings.
