Moonlight on Mt Ascension Trail Run

Moonlight on Mt. Ascension invites runners to experience the unique challenge of Montana's Helena Ultra Runners League (HURL) on June 18, 2027. This night race unfolds along the South Hills trails near Mount Ascension and Rodney Ridge in a modified figure 8 loop format. Each lap covers 11.57 miles with an elevation gain of 2,645 feet, entirely on singletrack terrain that promises both scenic beauty and technical difficulty. Participants have 12 hours to complete as many loops as they can before the finish line closes at 8:00 a.m., allowing them to run through the night under starlit skies.
The race course is known for its rugged trails dotted with rocks, making sleep running nearly impossible even in the dark. Wildlife sightings are common along these paths; deer, black bears, and mountain lions have been spotted by runners on previous occasions. As this event takes place just outside Helena but retains a wild Montana feel, participants should be prepared to encounter nature at its most unpredictable.
