MARGAM WILD TRAIL RUNS

About the Event

Get ready for the MARGAM WILD TRAIL RUNS, returning to Margam Country Park on May 27th, offering runners of all levels an unforgettable outdoor adventure.
Located near Swansea in Wales (SA13 2TJ), this event features three distinct routes through the picturesque and expansive Margam Country Park. The park's diverse terrain offers a mix of wooded trails, open fields, and stunning views of its historic castle and surrounding landscapes.
The 5km route is ideal for beginners, providing a scenic loop around the Castle that highlights the beauty of the park without overwhelming challenges.
For those looking to tackle more rugged paths, the 10km course includes an initial flat section followed by a steep ascent, rewarding runners with panoramic views from the summit before descending through varied terrain.
The Half Marathon, integrating parts of the 10km route, takes participants on a journey that culminates in a challenging climb to the park's highest point. This longer distance offers breathtaking vistas and an exhilarating descent back down into the heart of Margam Country Park.
Cani-cross enthusiasts are welcome at this event, with one controlled dog per runner permitted across all routes. Participants should be aware that parts of both the 10km and Half Marathon courses feature rocky descents and gravel paths which may present challenges for dogs.
The race starts bright and early on May 27th:
- 5km: 9:45 AM
- 10km & Half Marathon: 9:30 AM
All participants will enjoy live chip timing provided by RESULTS BASE.NET, ensuring accurate results. Upon crossing the finish line, runners can look forward to receiving an event medal and exclusive merchandise from Wild Deer. Refreshments including a drink and snack are also available.
For those who wish to commemorate their participation in this unique race, an official event t-shirt is on sale for £14 when you register.
Limited parking spaces will be available at the park entrance for a fee of £4 per vehicle.

Scenic view of

Margam Country Park is a country park estate in Wales, of around 850 acres (3.4 km2). It is situated in Margam, about 2 miles (3 km) from Port Talbot in south Wales. It was once owned by the Mansel Talbot family and is now owned and administered by the local council, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. Situated within the park are three notable buildings: Margam Abbey, a Cistercian monastery; Margam Castle, a neo-Gothic country house that was once the seat of the Mansel Talbot family; and the 18th-century Orangery. There is also evidence of the largest Roman villa in Wales. The park is designated Grade I on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.
