Magna Carta Spring

Nestled along the picturesque Thames Path trail, near Runnymede, home to one of history's most pivotal documents—the Magna Carta—lies an annual celebration that brings together runners from around the world. The race courses wind through a landscape steeped in historical significance and natural beauty.
The event features three distinct races: a marathon, half marathon, and 10km run. All participants gather at Wraysbury Skiff & Punting Club HQ on Riverside Road in Egham for an inspiring start near the site where King John signed the Magna Carta treaty back in June of 1215.
The marathon course begins promptly at 8:30 AM, taking runners along a scenic route that includes five out-and-back segments totaling approximately 26.35 miles (allowing for GPS variances). The half marathon starts shortly after at 9:00 AM and follows two initial loops towards Staines Bridge before continuing with the same out-and-back sections as the full marathon, covering a total distance of about 13.14 miles.
The 10km race kicks off at 9:15 AM and offers runners one loop to Staines Bridge followed by an additional segment that aligns with part of the half marathon route, ending back at Wraysbury Skiff Club HQ after covering approximately 6.27 miles (or 10.09 kilometers).
Throughout each race, fully marked turnaround points ensure clear navigation for participants. Key check points located at both the start/finish line and Old Windsor Lock are well-stocked with energy drinks and snacks to keep runners fueled during their journey.
This event not only celebrates athletic achievement but also honors a historic site that has shaped modern democracy. Runners will experience breathtaking views of the Thames, passing through areas rich in history and natural beauty as they traverse these meticulously planned courses.
