Lake Tye Challenge returns for its fourth year on Saturday, June 5, 2027, inviting runners and walkers of all levels to explore the picturesque Lake Tye loop trail. Situated just outside Monroe, WA, this scenic course offers a flat, paved path around the serene waters of Lake Tye. Participants can choose from various race options: a grueling 12-hour endurance event starting at dawn, two shorter races beginning at mid-morning and early afternoon respectively (6 hours and 3 hours), all concluding by 5 pm. Each lap is precisely measured at 1.70 miles, providing runners with the flexibility to set their own pace while enjoying the tranquil setting. The race venue boasts a full aid station located conveniently near the start/finish area where participants can find water, Hammer electrolyte fuel products, and various energy-rich foods throughout the day. Music will be playing at the starting line as you gear up for your challenge, adding to the lively atmosphere of this community event. From 3 pm onwards, El Paraiso Mexican Grill offers delicious burritos exclusively for race participants. The beach access directly adjacent to the venue allows runners to cool off or simply enjoy a moment’s respite during their run. A grass lawn near the start/finish area can be used by runners for personal drop bags and canopies (no spikes allowed). Chip timing with online tracking provided by chronokeep.com ensures accurate results, while late starts are permitted upon notifying the race desk prior to your chosen event time. All races conclude at 5 pm, followed by a post-race awards ceremony recognizing top male and female finishers who will receive special accolades. Each participant receives a wooden medal/coaster as well as complimentary professional race photos from the day’s events. The Lake Tye Challenge is organized by Sky Valley Trail Runners Association, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to enhancing trail networks in Monroe-Sultan-Gold Bar-Index area through proceeds generated from this event. The association thanks its sponsors Hammer Nutrition, El Paraiso Mexican Grill, and Dreadnaught Brewing for their support. Participants are encouraged to arrive early for bib pick-up starting at 4:30 am with restrooms opening simultaneously. For those traveling from Everett or Woodinville, clear directions guide you directly to the start/parking area on Fryelands Blvd., making it easy to find your way and enjoy a memorable day of running by Lake Tye. Whether you're aiming for endurance goals in the 12-hour event or looking to tackle one of the shorter races, Lake Tye Challenge offers an enjoyable blend of scenic beauty and supportive community spirit.
