la 1231 Caldera Trail

The Caldera Trail Race returns for its third edition on March 26, 2027, offering runners three distinct courses through the stunning volcanic landscapes of Cantal. The weekend kicks off with an evening start from Cabrespine at 6:30 PM, setting a lively tone as participants embark under starlit skies. On Saturday morning, the race continues in L'Hélipse, where a new course takes runners on a scenic journey back to Caldera's Col de Légal.
The main event unfolds on Sunday with two challenging courses that cater to solo adventurers and duo teams alike. The 21km solo route features an elevation gain of 1300 meters, weaving through the rugged terrain around Puy Mary. Runners will experience breathtaking views as they tackle steep ascents and descents along the slopes.
For those who prefer a team effort, the 21km duo course offers two thrilling segments: a first leg from Tournemire de la Borie d'Hélipse to Mandailles Saint Julien covering 12.5 km with an elevation gain of over 700 meters, followed by a second leg back to Col de Légal for the final 9km stretch.
Both courses are designed to showcase the natural beauty and challenging topography of Cantal's volcanic region, making this race a must-attend event for trail runners seeking both adventure and scenic splendor.
