JakkalBerry Extreme Cycle Race 2026

Immerse yourself in the rugged beauty and untamed landscapes of South Africa's Garden Route on December 12, 2026. The Jakkalberry Extreme MTB/Gravel Race invites cyclists to tackle its challenging terrain with two distinct routes: a full 98km journey through Redberry Farm and beyond, or a half-distance 54km course starting at Misty Valley Farm.
The event begins early on Saturday morning, with the longer route kicking off at 6 AM from Redberry Farm in Blanco George. The HalfJakk race starts an hour later at 8 AM from Misty Valley Farm near Brandwacht. Both courses wind through scenic back roads and hilltops, offering breathtaking views of the Garden Route's natural splendor.
Participants can expect significant elevation changes along both routes; the full distance route ascends a total of 1928 meters while the half-distance climbs up to 1161 meters. Cyclists will navigate varied terrain, from rugged gravel paths to smoother sections that test endurance and technical skills alike.
Registration is available on Friday evening at R&A Cycle & Run in George or early Saturday morning right before each race start. The first 200 entrants receive unique goody bags upon registration, adding an extra layer of excitement for those who sign up promptly.
The event is sanctioned by Cycling South Africa (CSA), ensuring adherence to official regulations and standards. Cyclists must either hold a current CSA membership or purchase a Temporary Day License at the time of entry. Water tables are well-stocked along both routes, providing essential hydration and nutrition points throughout your ride.
Proceeds from this race support the George Vryburgers Food For Kidz project, ensuring no child goes hungry while you challenge yourself amidst stunning South African scenery.
