Bergplaas Challenge 2026

On Saturday, November 28, 2026, cyclists and trail runners will converge on Libertas Guest Farm in Hoekwil for the fifth edition of the Bergplaas MTB and Trail Run Challenge. The event has been rescheduled due to ongoing measures against a Foot and Mouth disease outbreak in the Eden/Garden Route area. Participants can choose from various distances: 7km, 10km, and 15km trail runs, as well as 30km, 40km, and 70km mountain bike routes.
Registration opens at 6:00 AM with racing kicking off promptly at 7:30 AM for the longest MTB route. The scenic course winds through breathtaking landscapes around Libertas Farm, offering a mix of challenging terrain and stunning vistas. Cyclists will appreciate well-maintained trails that test their endurance while providing opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty.
For those who prefer running, the trail runs provide an invigorating experience with varied elevations and picturesque routes along the farm's lush surroundings. Participants can look forward to a bike service station and wash cycle provided by Cycle Worx Sedgefield, where all proceeds go towards supporting local charities. The event concludes around midday with prize giving ceremonies celebrating top finishers across each category.
