Hip Hip Hooray it's Hornsea

Immerse yourself in the coastal charm of Hornsea, East Yorkshire, for an unforgettable trail running experience. This scenic race offers various distances to cater to all levels and preferences, from the 5km dash to the challenging marathon.
The route follows the picturesque Trans Pennine Trail, a flat yet varied terrain that winds through charming landscapes. Runners can expect well-marked paths with feed/drink stations every three miles, ensuring you stay hydrated and energized throughout your run. The event is meticulously organized, boasting marshalled sections and clear signage to guide participants.
Before the race begins, make sure to arrive early—registration opens at 7:30 am—and allow ample time for parking and pre-race preparations. Parking facilities are available nearby with council charges that may apply, so plan accordingly or consider car-sharing options.
The event kicks off on September 4, 2027, with the marathon starting at 9:00 AM followed by the half-marathon at 9:15 AM and the shorter distances later in the morning. Each participant will receive a bespoke medal upon completion along with various treats to celebrate their achievement.
While enjoying your run, remember that headphones are discouraged for safety reasons; however, bone-conducting earphones or single-earbud setups are permitted if necessary. The race organizers strive to minimize waste by encouraging runners to bring reusable cups or bottles instead of disposable ones at the feed stations.
For those unable to attend on the day, transfer and deferral options can be managed through their website up until a week before the event. For more detailed information, visit the FAQ section or join the "Grim Up North Chat" Facebook group for additional support and updates.
After crossing the finish line, reward yourself with some traditional fish and chips and an ice cream from Hornsea's vibrant waterfront area—a perfect way to round off your day out at this seaside gem.
