About the Event

Set against the backdrop of Goathland, this winter trail race series invites runners to challenge themselves on rugged terrain. The Hardmoors 26.2 events include distances ranging from the full marathon (27.5 miles) with over 4800 feet of elevation gain, through the half marathon and a scenic 10k route.
Participants must be prepared for potentially harsh conditions as this is a winter event. All runners are required to carry specific mandatory kit throughout their race; failure to do so will result in disqualification. The lack of taped or signed routes means that competitors must rely on detailed downloadable maps and course descriptions provided by the organizers, ensuring they navigate independently.
The marathon begins at 07:00 AM with a staggered start for half marathoners (9:00 AM) and 10k runners (10:00 AM), all departing from Goathland Village Hall. Competitors have up to nine hours to complete the full marathon, six hours for the half marathon, and four hours for the shorter distance.
Safety is paramount at these events, hence no dogs are allowed on race day to ensure a smooth running environment for participants. Additionally, runners can opt to purchase XCover insurance, offering peace of mind with potential refunds in case they cannot attend due to unforeseen circumstances.
