About the Event

The Great Wall of China Marathon (GWCM) stands as an unparalleled endurance challenge that has captivated runners for over two decades. Since its inception, this historic race has taken place annually across five distinct sections of the iconic Great Wall, weaving through rugged landscapes and steep staircases to create a truly unforgettable experience.
In 2027, GWCM will celebrate its 26th consecutive year as an independent event, marking it also as the 34th edition when considering both spring and autumn iterations. This milestone promises runners a unique opportunity to explore the rich history and breathtaking vistas of one of China's most revered landmarks.
Participants can choose from four distinct distances: full marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K. Each route offers a blend of scenic beauty and physical challenge as competitors traverse sections of the Great Wall that wind through lush valleys and climb to majestic heights. The terrain varies significantly, with steep climbs and descents testing both mental and physical fortitude.
The race not only celebrates athletic achievement but also honors cultural heritage by inviting runners from around the world to witness the awe-inspiring architecture up close. As participants push their limits along historic pathways, they are immersed in a tapestry of historical significance and natural splendor that few other races can match.
Join thousands of fellow enthusiasts for what promises to be an unforgettable journey through one of humanity's greatest architectural wonders. Register now to secure your place at this iconic event in Beijing, China.
