About the Event

Cycling enthusiasts looking for a thrilling mountain adventure will find no better destination than the Granfondo Serra da Estrela. This annual cycling event takes place entirely within Portugal's scenic Serra da Estrela Natural Park, offering cyclists an unparalleled opportunity to explore some of the country’s most iconic landscapes and challenging terrain.
The route begins in Manteigas, a charming town that serves as the heart of the Granfondo headquarters for this edition. Participants will pedal through breathtaking scenery en route to Seia, where they'll be greeted by local residents before continuing their journey up the southern face of Serra da Estrela. Here, cyclists are treated to panoramic views and some of Portugal's most formidable climbs.
For those seeking a more manageable experience, the Mediofondo offers an alternative that still captures the essence of conquering this majestic mountain range without pushing riders beyond their limits on their first attempt. Both routes provide an unforgettable journey through rugged terrain and serene natural beauty.
The Granfondo Serra da Estrela is much more than just a race; it's a celebration of cycling in one of Europe’s most stunning high-altitude settings, where every turn reveals new vistas and challenges waiting to be conquered.
Participants can anticipate an epic journey that will test their limits while rewarding them with the unique beauty of Portugal’s highest mountain range. This event promises to leave riders with memories that last a lifetime as they traverse through some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Europe.
