Glen Lyon Ultra Marathon 2027

The Glen Lyon Ultra Marathon is an exhilarating and challenging 31-mile footrace set against the breathtaking backdrop of Perthshire's remote hills. This ultra-distance race begins with a loop around Loch Lyon, featuring six river crossings that ensure your feet will stay wet throughout this initial section.
After completing the loop at Loch Lyon, runners pass through the start/finish area to collect their drop bag before heading into Glen Lochay via an ascent over rugged terrain. Here, participants tackle both high and low-level routes, testing endurance as they climb back across the hills and descend into the finish line in Glen Lyon.
Water stations are strategically placed at 8, 15, 20, and 27 miles to help runners stay hydrated during this demanding course. Only one drop bag is permitted midway through the race for essential items such as extra clothing or food supplies. Camp facilities are available on Friday night near Glen Lyon Dam where toilets will also be provided.
All participants must adhere strictly to a mandatory kit list detailed in pre-race briefings sent out three weeks prior to the event, which includes crucial safety equipment like first aid kits and emergency shelter items. Runners are strongly advised to familiarize themselves thoroughly with all race regulations; ignorance is not accepted as an excuse for disqualification.
The race takes place at Pubil, Glen Lyon, Perthshire PH15 2PX on June 05, 2027, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and physical challenge. This event promises to be a memorable experience for serious endurance runners looking for both scenic vistas and rigorous testing grounds in the Scottish Highlands.
