Embark on an exhilarating cycling journey through the picturesque landscapes of the Miura Peninsula, starting from Higashihama Beach and winding your way along the scenic shores of Sagami Bay. This 111km route takes you past iconic landmarks such as Kannonzaki Lighthouse and Tatarahama before reaching Uraga, a historic site with deep ties to Japan’s samurai era.
The tour begins at the revered Kei Shrine in Uraga, built in 1181 by Minamoto no Yoritomo to honor his wishes for the revival of his clan. As you pedal through this culturally rich area, don't forget your camera to capture memorable moments against historic backdrops and charming coastal vistas.
Midway through, cyclists will enjoy a picturesque lunch break at Miyagawa Park, known for its windmills and giant tuna radish sculpture—a unique local attraction. The route then continues along the coast, taking you past beautiful beaches like Sotobaha, Soleil Hill, Arahazaki Beach, Nagasaka Cape, and Inamuraga Saki.
The terrain is challenging with a total elevation gain of 900 meters, offering stunning ocean views and dramatic uphills that contrast beautifully with the serene countryside dotted with vast fields of Miura cabbage. Frequent convenience store stops are strategically placed to ensure you stay fueled throughout your ride.
This tour provides an immersive experience blending history, natural beauty, and physical challenge in one unforgettable day out on two wheels.
