Fei Sheehy Challenge 2027

The Fei Sheehy Challenge, organized by the Na Sléibhte Hillwalking Club and supported by the local community and businesses, is an annual tribute to Fei Sheehy, who passed away from Osteosarcoma at age 8. This three-day event spans the Comeragh, Galty, and Knockmealdown Mountains, covering a cumulative distance of approximately 92 kilometers with nearly 4,200 meters in elevation gain.
Participants have the option to tackle one or two days if they prefer not to commit to all three. Each day presents unique challenges: Friday's route through the Comeragh Mountains covers 32 kilometers and includes an ascent of 1,400 meters; Saturday’s trek across the Galty range totals 30 kilometers with a grueling climb of 1,700 meters; Sunday concludes in the Knockmealdowns, another 30-kilometer journey but slightly less strenuous at 1,100 meters ascent.
This self-navigated event emphasizes personal skill and independence. No walk leaders are provided, encouraging participants to hone their mountain navigation abilities while enjoying breathtaking views of Ireland's rugged landscapes. The challenge is more than just a physical test; it’s an opportunity for reflection and community support, raising funds for charitable causes close to Fei Sheehy’s memory.
