Evesham Biathlon

On September 27th, 2026, Evesham hosts its inaugural Biathlon Race at picturesque venues around town – starting with an invigorating run and concluding with a refreshing swim. Participants will gather early on Sunday morning for two distinct challenges that cater to athletes of all ages.
The race kicks off from the Evesham Velo Park (WR11 2ZL) at 10:30 am, where runners of various age groups tackle distances ranging from 1,000 meters to a full 2 kilometers. The run courses weave through scenic trails and pathways that showcase the town's natural beauty while offering athletes an opportunity to push their limits on a challenging yet manageable route.
Following the run, competitors transition to Evesham Leisure Centre (WR11 4SU) for the swim segment at noon. Here, swimmers take to the pool for either 200 meters or 100 meters depending on their age category. The water provides a welcome respite from the morning's exertions and offers participants an additional challenge as they aim to achieve optimal times within strict point-scoring criteria.
The event features twelve distinct classes, each tailored to specific age groups and gender categories:
- For young men aged 17 to 34 years old (Class 1), a rigorous test awaits with a 2000m run followed by a swift 200m swim.

- Older male athletes over the age of 35 compete in Class 6, facing shorter distances but still pushing their endurance and speed.
Female competitors have similarly structured classes ranging from teenage girls to women over thirty-five. Each class includes unique time targets for both run and swim segments designed to challenge participants while accommodating skill levels across different ages.
Competitors will earn points based on how closely they meet the designated times, with adjustments made every second or half-second depending on the event segment. The scoring system rewards precision and endurance equally, making this biathlon a true test of athletic prowess and strategic pacing.
Participants can enter individually to compete against others in their age group for personal bests and accolades. Alternatively, teams consisting of two individuals from any class can partner up; one athlete runs while the other swims, combining efforts for collective success based on individual performance metrics within each category.
