Embark on the final leg of our Dun Holm 5 in 5 Days Challenge, set against the backdrop of historic Durham. This concluding chapter is themed around the city itself and comes with an exclusive medal featuring iconic place names from within the City. Perfect for those seeking a fresh challenge in 2027, you can opt to enter all five days at once or register individually for each event as it suits your schedule. The grand finale takes place on Monday, May 31st, starting promptly at 9:30 AM from Durham Amateur Rowing Club. Members of our club enjoy a special discount with entry prices reduced by £10 compared to the full price. This membership perk ensures guaranteed participation and includes an exclusive mini-me medal pin for every event attended throughout the series. Additionally, runners affiliated with UK Athletics clubs receive a £2 reduction on their registration fees. The 7-hour Time Challenge offers flexibility in distance, starting from just 3km up to longer ultra distances based on your personal goals. A full lap measures approximately 4.37 miles (or 7km), and you can complete as many laps as desired within the time limit while adhering to UK Athletics age restrictions. The scenic course winds along the River Wear, offering breathtaking views of Durham Cathedral throughout its trail run classification. The route is clearly marked for easy navigation without requiring any navigational skills from participants. All levels of runners are welcome at our inclusive events, alongside those who prefer walking sections over running intervals. For every finisher who completes a minimum distance of 3km, there’s an impressive themed medal waiting to be claimed. Those tackling distances equivalent to half-marathons and beyond can also earn special pins commemorating their achievements. Upon crossing the finish line, all participants will receive a goody bag filled with treats as a reward for your efforts. Vegan-friendly options are available too, ensuring everyone finds something they’ll enjoy. A comprehensive aid station at both start and finish points provides refreshments throughout the day, including an array of drinks alongside savoury snacks like crisps and cheese along with sweet indulgences such as cookies – all featuring vegan alternatives to suit dietary preferences. If you're marking a significant milestone during this event, whether it’s your 50th marathon or any other special occasion, let us know in advance for personalized recognition on race day! On-site facilities include toilets and changing areas near the event headquarters. A bag drop area is also provided close to both start and finish lines though participants should note that items left here are at their own risk without staff supervision. Parking options around Durham city centre offer pay-and-display spaces but please refrain from using designated club parking for this event. Race day instructions will be sent via email a week before the race, detailing everything you need to know. Number collection takes place on-site prior to the start time during registration. Remember that while headphones are permitted, courtesy towards other path users is appreciated as our routes traverse public footpaths throughout the city and its surroundings.
