Durham 5 in 5 Days - Day 4

Dive into the heart of Durham for Day 4 of our Dun Holm 5 in 5 Days Challenge, an invigorating trail run that celebrates the city’s rich heritage. This year's theme is Durham itself, and participants will receive a unique medal featuring prominent local landmarks.
Scheduled for Sunday, May 30th, 2027, this event offers flexibility with its seven-hour time challenge format, allowing runners to set their own pace along scenic routes by the River Wear. The course winds through stunning landscapes offering breathtaking views of Durham Cathedral and other iconic sites, making it a perfect blend of physical exertion and cultural immersion.
Entry into the Dun Holm 5 in 5 Days Challenge is open not only for those looking to tackle all five days but also for individuals aiming to take on this specific Sunday event. Members can enjoy discounted entry fees by £10 compared to full-price registration, plus guaranteed spots and exclusive mini-me medal pins at every race attended.
The route itself accommodates various distances, starting from a minimum of 3km up to longer endurance runs like the half marathon (6 laps), marathon (12 laps), ultra distance (7 or more laps) and even extending as far as 50km. Each lap is approximately 4.37 miles but may adjust based on course conditions; there are designated turn points for shorter distances ensuring compliance with UK Athletics regulations.
Aid stations will be strategically placed at the start/finish area, providing runners with a wide array of refreshments including water, snacks like crisps and cookies along with vegan options to cater to diverse dietary needs. Post-race goody bags filled with treats are also part of the rewards for all finishers who complete 3km or more.
For those marking significant milestones in their running journey—such as reaching a particular marathon count—we offer personalized number plates celebrating these achievements.
Race day amenities include access to toilets and changing facilities at Race HQ, though bag drop areas require participants' own responsibility. Car parking is available off-site with pay-and-display options near the city center or surrounding streets; however, runners are advised against using the rowing club’s car park for this event due to space constraints.
Detailed race day instructions will be communicated via email prior to the event date, ensuring all participants have ample information leading up to their run. Number pick-up and race registration occur on-site before the official start time of 9:30 AM.
Join us in Durham as we celebrate both physical challenges and local heritage through this unique trail running experience.
