Dimple Dell Half Marathon

The Dimple Dell Half Marathon, scheduled for October 16, 2027, offers runners an unforgettable journey through the heart of Sandy City’s natural beauty. Starting at Lone Peak Park and winding its way into Dimple Dell Canyon, this race features a mix of wood-chipped trails and single-track paths that showcase stunning fall foliage and panoramic mountain vistas.
The course begins with a gentle descent into the canyon, where runners will cross scenic bridges and pass through vibrant autumn landscapes. The trail then takes you under an impressive bridge and along a favorite local landmark: a picturesque tunnel leading to the Wrangler Aid Station. From there, participants tackle the biggest climb of the race before reaching the Rim Trail for breathtaking views.
Aid stations are strategically placed throughout the route, offering Gatorade, water, Honey Stinger gels, fruit, and other tasty treats from Costco. The terrain is 95% trail with just a touch of pavement, making it ideal for both newcomers to trail running and seasoned veterans looking for an engaging challenge.
Post-race festivities include free breakfast at Great Harvest Bread featuring cinnamon rolls, muffins, pumpkin chocolate chip bread, and more. Runners will also receive high-quality race shirts and custom finisher medals made locally in Sandy City.
Registration options are available early ($60), normal ($70), or late ($80) until October 9th, with packet pickup at the Sandy Salt Lake Running Store on Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm. Race day registration is not offered; participants should aim for a stress-free start by arriving at least 45 minutes early.
Parking is free and plentiful near Lone Peak Park, though carpooling or dropping off runners helps conserve space. Volunteers are crucial to the event's success and will receive free entry into any future Happy Trails Running race as appreciation.
